The Score: Best Free Downloads This Week
1. Atmosphere released a free EP for the 4th of July called Leak at Will. Atmosphere has definitely had their ups and downs with records of late, but it’s a rarity that there isn’t a little gold hidden away in a release and this EP isn’t an exception. (And it’s released through Fifth Element’s online store – a mid-west staple that you should be familiar with.)
2. NYC Taper has posted a live recording of Explosions in the Sky’s June 30th performance at Central Park Summer Stage. Live recordings of Explosions are, also, never a bad thing.
3. Pukekos posted a rare Bright Eyes EP from the early days. I’ve seen it with a few names in different places, and some of the songs are collected elsewhere, but this Insound Support 12 EP is Bright Eyes when Oberst was still gritty sounding, something I long for in his newer recordings.
4. One of my favorite bootleggers has been hard at work posting records from this years Sasquatch festival. Look for a pile of these in the “best of the rest” posting tomorrow. But the real gem in this collection is the Fleet Foxes set from Sasquatch. They always kill it live.
5. With another full length LP on the way from Jay Reatard it’s hard not be drawn in by this July 1st set from Stuyvesant Town in Brooklyn. Posted by the Taper.
