Rick Rubin and Neil Diamond to Hit the Studio for the Third Time

Rick Rubin, the master producer who reinvented Johnny Cash, who produced some of the best Jay-Z, (etc. etc.) has been collaborating steadily since the end of Johnny Cash’s American Recordings to reinvent Neil Diamond (and coming from someone who doesn’t think a whole lot of Neil diamond, it’s working). Rubin produced the first number one album of Diamond’s long career, and they are now ready to bring out a third album.

The duo is set to meet in January and determine the trajectory of the new album. With Diamond finally hitting the charts, his love laden songs becoming more interested and dynamic, and the fact that Diamond is 67-years-old, the decision shouldn’t come as any sort of surprise. According to Prefix Diamond has stated that the album is going to be a much different recording than what they have been doing. What will the new album contain? Who knows. I think they should look into a Neil Diamond dub-step collection.
