Bloc Party ‘Intimacy’ Out Today

Only three days after the announcement that they would be releasing their third album, today is the day that Bloc Party release Intimacy from their website. Fans can either download a high-quality mp3 bundle today, buy the CD which will be sent out at the end of October (OCTOBER?) and will include songs not featured within the online bundle (but they aren’t sure which ones yet), or HEY…you can curb the indecision by buying both from the site today.

So how the hell did they keep such a secret after leading us to think that Mercury was a one-off single? Frontman Kele Okereke explained to Rock & Roll Daily,

“We referred to it as Plan ‘X.’ It was a bit of a giggle. I don’t think more than 10 people knew about the idea until the last few days. It was totally hush-hush but we didn’t want to go the whole In Rainbows route and give away for free. We live in a capitalist world and I do want to get paid and I do want to eat”
