Stephen Malkmus Has Cooler Friends Than You

And you thought that music video cameos were only utilized in the Hip Hop world? Not anymore - using your cool music-playing friends to decorate the visual elements of your new single is apparently de rigeur these days within the Indie Rock world too.

Think more plaid and a little less courvoisieur.

The new Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks video for their new single Gardenia is peppered with faces that you may not know from bands that you love. The latest release from Real Emotional Trash directed by Portland archivist Dan Woods features cameos from Greg ‘Girl Talk’ Gillis, Brian Bell from Weezer, Steve Turner from Mudhoney, Joe Plummer from Modest Mouse, someone from The Cribs and the whole of Ratatat.
