Deerhunter is leaking

In a weird series of events over the last two days the official Deerhunter/Atlas Sound Blog leaked three albums. The frontman and mastermind behind the two bands left his mediashare folders unprotected and they were hacked and the albums leaked. The albums leaked include the brand new Deerhunter disc, Microcastles, a heavily rumored bonus album that was to be released with the new Deerhunter titled Weird Era Cont. and a surprise virtual 7″ from Bradford’s side project Atlas Sound titled Logos.

At the blog Bradford lashed out in a very personal way against pretty much everyone initially. After saying, “fuck this shit. I can just make another album. It’s not finished and now it never will be,” and claiming that the Atlas Sound album was going to be trashed, he entered a post titled “Logos RIP 2007-2008.” The post gave a free download of the Atlas Sound recordings and some of Weird Era Cont..

In a post on his blog early this morning Bradford apologized for the volley of events that has led to him releasing Microcastles yesterday on iTunes, trashing Logos, untrashing Logos and deciding to continue working on it, posting links to his tracks, and on and on. Bradford said to fans, “In all seriousness, I AM THE ONE WHO FUCKED UP.” So, in the end a lot happened, and nothing really came of it. New Deerhunter is out digitally now instead of October, new Atlas Sound is on the way, and there are piles of Bradford Cox recordings building up in my iTunes, unlistened to…except the Atlas Sound track that is linked below, that’s a pretty good track. Otherwise, I feel uninspired.
