30 Seconds to Mars Getting What they Deserve (and it’s not an award)

Jared Leto and 30 Seconds to Mars are being sued by their parent label, Virgin Records, for $30 million for failing to produce the albums required in their contract. The band was contractually obligated to produce six albums for their label, and as of July 4th of this year, when they decide to split, they had only released three. Their most recent album was 2005’s A Beautiful Lie. Representatives close to the band say the group refuses to work with Virgin any longer because they have not been fairly compensated for their nine years at Virgin.

The band is opting out of the contract claiming a California state law allows them to step away from the contract. The law allows that personal service contracts can be void after seven years.

I’m thinking of starting a fund to help the label keep 30 Seconds to Mars unhappily under contract, because it seems to be halting their production of albums, which is just fine with me.

This is hilarious. Look at Leto’s face in the picture.

he always seems so laid back in general, and then we he’s 30 Seconds he takes himself so seriously all of a sudden, and poor Leto, no one else seems to take him quite as seriously as he takes himself…
