New Lykke Li Video: “Breaking It Up” and New Tour Dates

Swedish pop phenom Lykke Li has released the video to her second single from Youth Novel called “Breaking It Up.” It recent weeks Lykke Li has been blowing up across the states, following her major breakthrough’s in Europe of the past few months.

The song, and the video, and reminiscent of early Fiona Apple. The whole bunch-of-sexy-people-just-depressed-and-hanging-out-in-an-anonymous-flat thing is hard to mistake. Though maybe the billowy clothes are slightly more Stevie Nicks than Apple. Though lyrically she does carry that whole Fiona Apple “I’m beautiful and fucked up” sentiment.

Youth Novel didn’t really leap out at me initially, but as I’ve heard it a few more times I’m starting to think that this might actually be some fantastic pop writing.
